About the project

This transformation lab is accelerating the shift from slow, analog laboratory methods to modern, digital analytical tools that enable rapid and robust water quality control. The focus areas include:

  • Developing and implementing digital technologies such as flow cytometry and qPCR

  • Creating reliable and standardized decision support for water producers

  • Understanding organizational and regulatory conditions

  • Influencing policy and paving the way for the future of quality assurance

The transformation lab serves as a testbed and catalyst where technology meets practice. The aim is to drive a meaningful shift in how Sweden assesses microbial water quality — from today’s analog systems to the digital solutions of tomorrow.

WIN contributes as an enabler by connecting the innovation power of the industry with the practical needs at water producers and authorities, and by driving the utilization and scaling of new solutions.
